Having worked with Matt Shakman on WandaVision, and almost again on a Star Trek project that was cancelled, I was incredibly happy
to hear that he would be directing Fantastic Four. My chances of working on it were favorable, but the timing was off. When they began
pre-production on FF, I was hip-deep in pickup boards for Lilo & Stitch, and not the sort to quit one job for another.
However, another board artist had to leave the show and I was offered a chance to draw the Fantastic Four!
I loved the script- it was different and bold, full of heart and full of the wild, hard science fiction that I always leaned into in the comics.
Unfortunately, I only had about eight weeks to draw variations of these two scenes before the entire project was put on pause for
a hefty re-write. The scenes I had been developing with the director were now cut from the film, and that artist I was brought on to
replace was now available again. That's the industry for you. Still, I loved my short time on the show, and will always be
grateful that the guys over at Marvel saw fit to still credit me in the film.
