I love drawing monsters. Even Pocket Monsters. I didn't know too much about the whole Pokemon phenomenon when I started on this, but just drawing all the various Pokemon instilled a continuing love- I don't miss a game release anymore.
This film went through a LOT of different versions - as you'll see in the Deleted Scenes. A few of my early sequences made it into the final film, but a lot was trimmed for time and/or budget. I even came back after intial photography to board out the new Opening- and we did two versions of that! Director Rob Letterman and I started off designing a kick ass Pokemon Battle between Squirtle and Onyx which was, eventually, way too expensive. Ultimately, I enjoyed the film, even though I wasn't deemed important enough to deserve a credit...I'm still a little miffed by that. But the work is all here.
